Missouri cuntservatives have moved forward a bill that would force every challenge to a state law to be moved from the Western District Court to the Eastern District. For no reason at all! Not because they are consistently losing every abortion case in the Western District and want a court that will lean back and let them override democracy.

The Western District Court is a real thorn in the side of petulant Midwestern theocrats. They have refused to reinstate abortion restrictions after voters said YES to enshrining abortion rights in the state constitution. They struck down deceptive abortion ballot language and generally told anti-abortion lawmakers to CHILL on the authoritarian power grabs. Now, instead of taking the L, they are trying to rig the entire system to get the outcome they want.

This is yet ANOTHER example of Missouri refusing to let the democratic or judicial process play out. They’d rather change the ENTIRE SYSTEM than play by the rules. We all remember lawmakers talking a BIG game about leaving abortion “to the states,” right? What they meant was: Leave it to the stately gentlemen who know better than you. Got it.
