A maternal fetal specialist who deals with high-risk pregnancies is suing The Gem State because he cannot provide medically necessary abortions cuz of the state’s TOTAL (AND TOTALLY FUCKED UP) ABORTION BAN.
➕Adding Another Carve-out
The doc isn’t asking to overturn the ban, he’s asking to add another exception to the state’s extremely limited list of “acceptable” abortions. Right now you can only get one to save your life, or in cases of rape or incest IF you reported to police. A win for the doc would add an allowance if your HEALTH was threatened. Gee, THANKS, state overlords!

Big fan of the legal fight-back energy, but unless we actually REVERSE abortion bans, patients will keep getting passed to other states for care like a cursed Idaho Hot Potato.

The data shows that some of these births were not “choices.” Some of the pre-term births are a DIRECT poor health outcome from people being shut out of the abortion care they wanted. When care is denied, prenatal care is delayed, and everyone suffers.

If you are a wealthy white person, abortion bans are an inconvenience. If you are a low-income person of color, it can mean lifelong health consequences or a death sentence. We know this, have data to back it up, but cuntservatives don’t give a shit. As long as their mistresses can hop a flight, they’re good!
