The Abortion Access Report 1/29/2026
Boo Texas and Go Get 'em Women of Arkansas
The Guardian’s Carter Sherman is hitting it out of the park on their abortion coverage. Here are two articles you really want to read:
The Headline: Texas sues Delaware nurse practitioner accused of mailing abortion pills across state lines
TLDR:
🧙♀️ The Provider Hunt Continues
Texas is back on its favorite BS pastime: suing doctors for providing healthcare. Who are they coming after now? Debra Lynch, a nurse practitioner who runs @HerSafeHarbor, an AMAZING Delaware-based clinic for providing abortion pills to folks in ALL 50 states. YUP, a licensed medical provider offering science-based healthcare is being treated like a criminal because Texas decided patients don’t get bodily autonomy once a state line exists. Make it make sense. OH wait…
🛡️Call in Delaware’s Shield Laws
If you love abortion providers, you love shield laws. Delaware’s shield laws, which exist specifically to stop this kind of state-sponsored witch hunt, are meant to protect providers who legally offer abortion care from the states trying to obliterate access. The shield laws passed in 2022, and got extra beefed up with protections in 2025, keeping us hopeful that Debra will be in the clear. She has 0 plans to stop helping patients and we’re here for that.
🤠 Don't Mess With Healthcare
Debra Lynch is NOT the first provider that Texas' goons have come after, and she clearly won't be the last. We cannot be chill about this. This lawsuit goes beyond the Lone Star State – this will act as a blueprint for every state with abobo bans that's itching to go after the people doing the actual good, LIFESAVING work. Louisiana’s already hopped on the bandwagon of suing abortion providers, and if Texas succeeds in criminalizing care across state lines, more states will follow and abortion access everywhere will take a hit. That’s a no from me, dawg.
The Headline: ‘I was violated and put in extreme danger’: women denied abortions sue over Arkansas ban
TLDR:
⚖️Arkansas Sued For Abortion Ban
Arkansas is facing it’s first legal challenge over it’s heinous total abortion ban that only has only ONE exception, to save the person’s life (wow, thanks!). Four women and one doctor say the ban violates their right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Not to mention the right not to be left for dead by their state.
📜When A Bill Becomes a Torture Device
These women were forced to carry doomed pregnancies MUCH longer than they should have, empty their bank accounts to flee for basic healthcare, and refused an abortion for a pregnancy from rape. All unnecessary torture that left one of them planning their funeral because a bunch of gynotocians think they know better than doctors.
⚠️We’re #1 (in State-Sponsored Physical and Mental Trauma)
These lawmakers don’t give a single, solitary shit about the human cost of their bans. As long as Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders can keep bragging about Arkansas being named the most “pro-life” state for the 6th year in a row, women bleeding out, going bankrupt, or being traumatized is just background noise.
Tomorrow we will bring you our Weekly Breakdown!
