The Abortion Access Report 1/13/2026
Pennsylvania, Missouri and DNA!
The news is newsing, so we pulled a few gems to keep you informed without sending you into a doom spiral. Here’s what to watch.
The Headline: Abortion amendment passes PA state house with 102-101 vote
TLDR:
🏛️Pennsylvania Attempts to Make Abortion Rights Permanent
In December, the PA House of Reps managed to pass an abortion rights amendment by ONE vote. The amendment would ENSHRINE the right to abortion until viability, essentially locking in Roe for the state. LFG.
🩺Abortion in The Keystone State
Abortion is already legal in PA for up to 24 weeks, but EVERYONE knows how tenuous that shit is. This amendment is the progressive attempt at future-proofing bodily autonomy against tyrannical weirdos waiting in the wings to snatch it away.
🤷♀️The Outlook is… Meh
The amendment is heading to the state Senate now, which has a conservative majority AKA the death panel for abortion rights. It’s an uphill battle—proposing WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT to the politicians that want nothing for the people. But we’re here for the fight. So go Birds, and go bodily autonomy.
The Headline: How Your At-Home DNA Test Could Send Women to Jail
TLDR:
🧬Shocker: Cops Using DNA Testing for Pure Evil
Kentucky Police have arrested a woman over her stillbirth that happened THIRTY-FIVE YEARS AGO. That’s right, the POLICE, whose medical credentials include “look scary, carry gun,” are out here “solving” cases where fetuses were found, and deciding right off the bat these people are murderers. And they did it using DNA testing.
⛓️This Is Not New
Women in states like Florida and Ohio have been hunted down, ripped from their families, and thrown in jail for pregnancies that happened 10, 20, 30 years ago. Apparently, tax dollars are better spent destroying lives for decades-old miscarriages and stillbirths than feeding literal children.
⚠️REMINDER
There is no method to dispose of your pregnancy that they will not find a way to criminalize. Go to the hospital? Healthcare workers may report you. Have it in the toilet? In a bucket? In your backyard? They’ll charge you with abuse of a corpse. It’s clear: law enforcement is less interested in serving communities, and more interested in inflicting devastating retroactive punishment for HAVING A BODY THAT DOES NORMAL HUMAN FUNCTIONS.
The Headline: Opening day of Missouri abortion-rights trial focuses on decades of state restrictions
TLDR:
👨⚖️ Court is Now In Session for Missouri’s Abortion Restrictions
DECADES of abortion restrictions in the Show Me State are officially. on. trial. Voters came out in droves to say YES to abortion protections in 2024, and over the next two weeks, the state has to justify all its cruel, dumb laws that are meant to END abortion, not make it “safer.”
🖕 The Cutting Edge of Oppression
The state was an early adopter of garbage restrictions, like the 1986 first-of-its-kind law that said docs HAVE to have unnecessary, hard to get “admitting privileges” to hospitals. From there, they kept stacking up hurdles and bans until there was only one clinic left in the state that is now, blissfully, making Missouri answer for its entire history of forced birth bullshit.
❗ For The Record
Abortion restrictions are NEVER medically necessary. Waiting periods, forced ultrasounds, unhinged clinic requirements ONLY exist to shame patients, terrorize doctors, and make abortion care impossible. We’re glued to the trial, so come back here for all the updates as Midwest anti-abortion fuckery takes the stand.
We will have a few more for you tomorrow.
